If you are looking to find your signature drink but don’t want to spend the time taste testing at various bars across the Gold Coast, we have compiled a list of the cocktails you simply have to try.
1) Black Barrell Old Fashioned at The Cambus Wallace
Two measures of Mount Gay Black Barrel Rum is stirred into ice and mixed with a homemade old-fashioned syrup. Finished off with a flamed orange zest, this Gold Coast cocktail is a favourite among locals. Grab your first mate and jump ashore, you can find this hearty cocktail at The Cambus Wallace – a Nobby Beach bar that gets its name from the ill-fated Scottish vessel that spilled its cargo of alcohol and explosives all over Stradbroke Island.
Where: The Cambus Wallace, 4/2237 Gold Coast Highway, Nobby Beach, Gold Coast, QLD.
2) Signature Espresso Martini by Black Coffee Lyrics
As someone who is always wary when someone tries to tamper with a classic, this local Gold Coast bar makes one martini you won’t mind switching to. Starting off with a double shot of freshly ground espresso, added to Kelly One vodka and a homemade coffee liquor. Coffee and martini lovers unite, this is a marriage made in heaven. It is no wonder this is a customer favourite. Hidden away in Surfers Paradise, Black Coffee Lyrics creates indulgent drinks for the senses.
Where: Black Coffee Lyrics, Centre Arcade, 3131 Surfers Paradise Blv, Surfers Paradise, Gold Coast, QLD.
3) Stafford’s Punch at The Walrus Social House
This is one punch that you won’t find at the average house party. White rum, Crème de Pomme Verte, ruby red grapefruit, peach and apple juice. This punch screams anything but tacky, and the setting it is served in is simply stunning. The Walrus Social House comes complete with a European fit out, a heritage cocktail list and its own whiskey bar.
Where: Walrus Social House, 3032 Surfers Paradise Blv, Surfers Paradise, Gold Coast, QLD.
4) Whiskey Sour at Not Tonight
A Gold Coast bar has put their mark one of the oldest cocktails around. Choosing to serve Jack Daniels, Amaretto, fresh lime, cloudy apple juice and some sugar cane syrup, this Whiskey Sour is anything but traditional. Not Tonight is a small bar near a tram stop in Nerang, but looks can be deceiving. This basic cocktail menu is definitely a must-taste.
Where: Not Tonight, 50B Nerang Street, Southport, Gold Coast, QLD.
5) Stingray Original at the Stingray Lounge
Cazadores Blanco, Grand Marnier, lime, lime wedge and the classic salt rim. This margarita is one of the go to cocktails at this popular Gold Coast bar. The Stingray Lounge is filled with local surf memorabilia and comes complete with over 50 in-house tequilas. There is bound to be a cocktail for everybody on this menu.
Where: Stingray Lounge – QT Hotel, 7 Staghorn Ave, Surfers Paradise, Gold Coast, QLD.
With plenty of amazing cocktails across the Gold Coast, this is just a taste of what’s on offer. Your signature drink could be just one sip away!
