We’ve found some great secret hiding spots where you can put that jewellery or extra cash, away from prying eyes. They always say to hide in plain sight, and these secret compartments are no different! Check out these simple yet effective DIY projects that would keep Sherlock Holmes guessing!
Hollow out some books
It’s not a new concept, however it is still very effective for hiding away small, precious goods. This involves an intermediate amount of skill with tools, so be sure you’re doing everything safely! Grab some old books you don’t mind ruining, glue them together and once they are dry and fused, cut an even line with a saw about an inch or so from the spine. Pop in a plywood box that fits snug in the new space, glue the book covers to the edges of the box and you’re set!
Bury it!
You can have buried treasure inside the house, too! All you’ll need is a pot plant and a small clear container, to create this super secret hiding place. Simply put your spare cash or prized jewellery in the container, bury most of it and pop a pinecone over the top. Simple, easy and cheap!
Hide it in an old paint tin
Is your garage a mess? Great! This is one of those rare moments where mess works in your favour. Find an old, empty paint tin amidst some others, and mark it with a small ‘x’. Place your spare cash in there and put it back with the rest of the paint tins. No one’s going to think to look there!
