Pulp Kitchen
One movie with a cult following is Pulp Fiction; this iconic 90’s American movie has set the standard as one of the most influential films of the decade, with it’s grungy synopsis and intertwining story lines. It’s also inspired this café, Pulp Kitchen, nestled in beside the Palmerston Golf Course and Charles Darwin University. Themed as, you guessed it, an American style diner, you can indulge in a massive burger and pretend you’re Honey Bunny or Pumpkin. If you’re looking for a breakfast spot, you can order the Big Fry Up for a super filling meal, including eggs, bacon, pork sausages, baked beans, grilled tomato and buttered thick cut toast. You can even get a photo as one of the main characters with their quirky cut out photo board at the front of the cafe. Stop in here for an incredible feed at any point of the day, just don’t leave your wallet behind.

Uncle Sam’s Take Away Food
In WW1, posters in the United States emerged of ‘Uncle Sam’ (a personification of the American government) pointing and asking for people to enlist in the U.S. Army. This iconic figure has evolved and is now the common term used to refer to the U.S. Government (particularly in conspiracy theories) and his figure reappears every 4th of July for Independence Day. He’s also popped up in Darwin, with Uncle Sam’s Take Away food operating as a 24-hour café to feed hungry locals at the early hours of the morning for decades. This take away food hub serves up all the greasy favourites, from burgers and steak sandwiches to chips and gravy. While it’s renowned to get a bit rowdy after the nightclubs close, no one can deny this is the best early morning feed they’ve had after a big night out. A classic stereotype that we always see in Hollywood films is an American cops love of doughnuts and sweet treats.
