Feeling fatigued and not sure why? We have some ways for you to battle fatigue and get your energy back!

Health check

The most important thing you can do if you’re feeling overly fatigued is rule out any underlying illness. From diabetes, arthritis and heart disease to anemia, sleep apnoea and a change in medication, there could be a range of different medical reasons for your loss of energy. If you’re more tired than normal for a prolonged period of time, head straight to your local Tablelands medical centre for a checkup.

Get moving

Already visited your GP and ruled out health problems? Then it’s time to start exercising! While going for a jog might be the last thing on your mind when you’re feeling lethargic, studies suggest that physical activity does in fact raise your energy levels—not to mention improve your overall quality of life! While any exercise is good, yoga is the best exercise for increasing clear-mindedness, confidence and boosting overall energy levels.

Re-hydrate & replenish

Just like cars need fuel to get from point A to B, we need food and water to fuel our daily activities. If you’re running on fumes, then you should take a second look at your diet. First and foremost, try to drink about 2 litres of water a day, as dehydration zaps your energy and will impair your everyday performance. As far as food goes, eat smaller meals more frequently and try adding omega-3 to your diet for more sustained energy and alertness throughout the day.

Sleep

It sounds obvious, but working out your sleeping patterns and getting enough shut-eye could be key to boosting your energy levels. Try get to bed early, giving yourself at least 8 hours sleep, a night! If you’re in a midday slump, a short nap is a great solution to re-energise—just don’t nap longer than 30 minutes as you may have trouble sleeping later in the night.

Fatigue & your skin

Fatigue not only has an effect on your energy levels, but it can also impact your skin! From the appearance of dark circles under the eyes to a loss of tone and tightness, there are a number of signs to look out for when it comes to tired skin.
