#1 Put your phone away
Technology is a necessary evil that takes over most of our lives. On your wedding day, it’s important to make an exception to the rule and put the phone away! There’s no need to Tweet, text or update a Facebook status about your nuptials. There’ll be plenty of guests who will be doing it for you, and it will just distract from you enjoying the day!
#2 Don’t embrace traditions you think are silly
If you both have two left feet and can’t bear the thought of a first dance, or you hate veils with a passion, then scrap the idea! It’s your day, and there is no point in implementing wedding traditions that aren’t meaningful to you or make you cringe.
#3 Wear hand moisturiser for the ceremony
Aside from the number of photos that will be taken of your hands on your wedding day, applying moisturiser just before the ceremony will make one thing a lot easier—putting on those rings! Avoid that awkward moment when the rings don’t slip on easily and make sure you both apply moisturiser beforehand.
#4 Use the toilet backwards
One practical thing that is often forgotten about on the wedding day is using the bathroom. If your dress has a train or any tulle, you might find using the bathroom a little tricky. Sitting on the toilet backwards means the bulk of your dress stays out of the way. This is a hack that you’ll be grateful for after a few glasses of champagne!
#5 Eat!
Be strict about setting aside time to eat on your wedding day. It’s easy to get caught up in the excitement of talking to guests and taking photos, and completely miss out on eating your tasty food. Set aside half an hour to just sit down and finish your whole meal, and even assign someone in your bridal party to distract guests who try to interrupt this important time.
#6 Don’t stress about the details
Once the wedding day has come and gone, you’re not going to think twice about the diamantes you chose to stick on the place cards. If you’re over-thinking small, insignificant details of the day, take a step back and realise you probably won’t even remember the small things in a year’s time.
