1) The Pier Bar & Grill

There is nothing better then a drink with a view. The Pier Bar & Grill is situated so close to the ocean that you can almost taste the sea salt. Serving up wood fired pizzas with your alcoholic beverages, you can rest and relax with friends. They have done some recent renovations, after ten years, so if you’re a local you should drop in and enjoy the new interior decor and new layout. They also host regular events throughout the week to keep you and your mates entertained with Wednesday’s Pier Pong Competition and the usual Pier Bar Sunday Sesh always a highlight.

2) The Jack Hotel & Backpackers

If you’re strapped for cash and on a budget then the Jack Hotel & Backpackers is the place to head with your mates. Located in the CBD of Cairns, there are always events on with Dj’s, live acts and, to top it off, two for one deals with drinks until 7pm every night of the week. There might too much entertainment here for you and your friends to handle with three bars and a beer garden (not to mention the gaming rooms). This place is so great you will probably want to stay the night, and you can!

3) PJ O’Brien’s

PJ O’Brien’s is an authentic Irish pub. If you and your mates are in the mood for a pint and some late night entertainment, this pub has plenty of events on throughout the week. Their $14 meal deals include some great hearty food and a pot of beer, glass of wine or basic spirit no matter what day of the week it is. 4) Trinity Beach Tavern

Located at one of the most popular beaches in Cairns, you can look out onto the waterfront at this coastal Tavern. Featuring not one but two bars to choose from, depending on how you want to spend the night, you and your mates definitely won’t run out of things to do. The Lounge Bar features a large plasma TV where you can watch international sports while you sip back a few and unwind from a hard day’s work. Located so close to the Esplanade, you can enjoy the scenery from Trinity Beach Tavern.

The Sports Bar at The Red Beret Hotel is a great local spot to relax and unwind with pool comps every Thursday night and Sunday afternoon. There is something on every night of the week which will keep you entertained if you’re looking for a low key night with good company. They also have a great Bistro menu so if you’re hungry check out their Monday Monster Scnitzels and T-Bone Tuesdays which are both $17 per meal.
