Whether you’re an avid lawn bowler just looking to have a bit of fun or you’ve heard about the barefoot bowls craze and you just want to give it a try, we’ve found the three best places to play some barefoot bowls on the Gold Coast.
Broadbeach Bowls Club
Located in the heart of Broadbeach, come down to Broadbeach Bowls Club for an afternoon of barefoot bowls in the sea breeze. With friendly staff, affordable yet delicious meals and some of the best greens on the Gold Coast, you won’t be disappointed. Head straight from work with a couple of mates and order a cold tap beer. Be sure to couple this with a chicken parmigiana from the bistro, if you want a satisfied stomach before the barefoot bowls main event. If your mates win the bragging rights after bowls, you can always win it back at either poker or trivia, which Broadbeach Bowls Club host every Thursday night. Remember to always call in advance if you want to guarantee a game of barefoot bowls at this busy club.

Robina Bowls Club
Situated off Ron Penhaligon Drive in Robina, Robina Bowls Club is great venue to have a couple of drinks over a fun-filled game on the green. With barefoot bowls available for $5, from 1pm to 5pm on Thursdays, get down early if you want to get in a decent game. Dont worry though, the bistro opens at 5:30pm, so chat to a local by the bar with a schooner in hand before ordering from their tasty bistro-style menu. On Thursdays you can sink your teeth into the reef and beef special with rump steak, prawns, chips and salad for just $12.50. You might even like to join in on the trivia night afterwards, it’s up to you. First time trying barefoot bowls? Just talk to one of the friendly staff behind the bar and they’ll be happy to help you with any questions you might have.

Southport Bowls Club
With barefoot bowls available 7 days a week, get some friends together and make your way to Southport Bowls Club for a barefoot bowling bonanza. For just $5 you can have access to the bowling greens, coloured bowls and barbeque facilities if you wanted to bring your own food. Instead of spending another night at the same restaurant you go to every week, head down to Southport Bowls Club for an evening of light-hearted fun that won’t burn a whole in your pocket. Heck, it’s so cheap you can still go to one of the many nearby restaurants afterwards – if you still have the energy. There’s also corporate packages available if you wanted to make a day of it. Just remember to respect the greens and ladies that means no heels!
