Dawn Service @ 5:10am
A 30,000 strong crowd is expected to wake up early and head down to Nobbys Beach for the City of Newcastle ANZAC Day Dawn Service. Held on the Shortland Lawn, the Dawn Service is a traditional military routine which is now a part of the ANZAC tradition. During battles, dawn was the most likely time for an attack so they would play the last post to wake the soldiers so they were alert for any possible confrontation. The City of Newcastle ANZAC Day Dawn Service will be quite unique as the service will be concluded with the Firing of the Fort Scratchley guns four times to salute the fallen.

ANZAC Day March @ 9:10am
The City of Newcastle ANZAC Day March sets off from 9:15am on the corner of Perkins Street and Hunter Street Mall. Led by soldiers from the HMAS Tobruk they’ll pass through the main streets of Newcastle all the way to King Street. Be sure to line the streets and pay your respects to this integral part of ANZAC Day proceedings. This year is expected to boast some of the biggest crowds ever with the significance of the centenary occasion.

The United Service of Remembrance @ 10:00am
The United Service of Remembrance will be held a the Civic Park and is expected to have a crowd of around 15,000 people. So come down at 10am and join all the others for a moment of reflection on the ANZAC spirit and the brave soldiers who lost their lives fighting for this country. This service is expected to run on traditional lines.

Gallipoli Legion Club
The Gallipoli Legion Club are famous for their ability to put on some great ANZAC Day entertainment. With doors opening from 5am you can make this your meeting spot before the dawn service at Gregson Park or come for the full continental breakfast at 6:30am, which is the perfect tasty way to start your day after an early rise.
Located off Beaumont Street, The Gallipoli Legion Club was officially opened in 1955 by Lieutenant-General Sir Leslie Morshead and has since become a place where locals love to have a good time and a few drinks. Choose between an afternoon of live bands and entertainment from 12pm to 6pm or find a seat near a bar and enjoy the ANZAC day footy clash which is also a great ANZAC Day tradition.
