Not Using a Spirit Level
Putting up a shelf without a spirit level? Think again. Although you may believe the human eye is able to picture a straight line, don’t be fooled. Not only will you be left with wonky surfaces, but you’ll also forever have to deal with an interior eyesore.

When it comes to DIY, never bite off more than you can chew. After all, what looks like a small, simple task can quickly escalate into something much larger. Whether you’re cutting it short on time, or need an extra pair of hands, make sure you fully understand what needs to be done, and come up with a thorough plan of how you can accomplish it.
Using the wrong tools
Whether you’re using a screwdriver to lift tiles, or substituting a cheap wrench for a spanner, using the wrong tools can not only wreak havoc on a job, but can also be extremely dangerous. If you can’t afford to purchase the correct tools, borrow them from a friend or rent them at a local equipment hire shop.
