Ever noticed working out without music makes every second feel like 10? Well, you’re not imagining it. A study published in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology in 2018 reveals people workout longer if they do so with music. Of the 127 people in the study group, the 67 people with music spent a significant amount more time on the treadmill.
Even cooler is that you can influence your performance by matching your music’s beats per minute (BPM) with your heart rate—although don’t expect any miracle personal bests from this alone.
