Australia has an affinity for large and oversized objects. The most notable one on the Sunshine Coast is The Big Pineapple. You may not know that this tourist attraction is actually heritage listed and is home to weekly Saturday markets and a pineapple-themed café. Take a photo outside (or on top of) the 16-metre statue and then grab a pineapple parfait in the café. There is even a miniature train track and a petting zoo onsite, so you’re guaranteed not to be bored if you head to The Big Pineapple for a day trip!

Tapas and sangria, Mezze Bar – Sunshine Coast

Just a short walk from Sunreef is the Mezze Bar. This Mediterranean inspired tapas bar is the perfect place to visit for a post dive meal and drink. Their tapas menu is extensive; try one of their many small dishes to share, whether you’re after ‘mezze’ from the sea, land or garden. Try the marinated tuna fillets served with crispy fried potatoes and fresh herbs, chili, garlic, lemon and shallots. Another incredible dish is their keftethes; Yiayia’s Greek style meatballs with tzatziki. Pair your tapas with a glass of sangria, or a cocktail to match your dive. The blue crush is made from blue curacao, vodka, pineapple juice, lime juice and Red Bull, and looks exactly like the blue waters of the Sunshine Coast. This is the perfect place to end the night after a big day.
