The track is 24-kilometres return, so just take this into account when deciding whether you want to complete the entire journey before heading for home. Do you like to stop and smell the roses when riding? We’ve found a few rest stops and Wyong cafes you might want to consider kicking down your bike stand at.
Start your day with a cafe-style pick me up
Cafe Tievoli
While you may be thinking this cafe is a bit far from your starting point, the quality coffees and breakfast selections at Cafe Tievoli means there’s really no other way to start your day in Wyong. Located in Charmhaven, step inside this little local favourite for a delicious yet affordable breakfast. The bacon and eggs here are to die for; however, if you can’t ride with a full stomach, we suggest tucking into the Swiss muesli. Whatever you order, be sure to couple with a perfectly poured coffee from the friendly staff at Cafe Tievoli.

Head to Tuggerah Train Station
After filling your stomach, make the short drive south to Tuggerah Station. This train station not only gives you a place to park your car, but marks the start of your journey. From here, start riding along the shared path on Bryant Ave which eventually merges with the Tuggerah Lakes Cycleway.

Need a rest?
Depending on how experienced you are as a rider or if you’re travelling with the little ones, you may want to make several rest stops along your journey. While you can stop anywhere to take in the beautiful lakeside surroundings, we suggest either the Ewan Howlett Reserve, Picnic Point Reserve or utilising the playground facilities at George Futcher Reserve.
Continue to The Entrance
Once you arrive at The Entrance you can find somewhere to sit near the water and rest those weary legs, all while feeding the pelicans. Otherwise, continue riding to the many surrounding cafes and restaurants, or just turn back and make the long trip to your car in Tuggerah.

Refuel with lunch
The Glass Onion Society
As you begin making your journey home, you may want to consider resting up and replenishing those energy levels with a cafe-style feed for lunch. Only one street away from the Tuggerah Lakes Cycleway itself, pull up a chair at The Glass Onion and order from their versatile menu, with a range of breakfast and lunchtime options depending on the time of day. If you don’t mind riding on a full stomach, we suggest ordering their Monster Mash with local organic La Tartine sourdough, mashed green peas, grilled halloumi topped with a local free- range, soft-poached egg and a side of grilled mushrooms. Otherwise, a little banana bread treat will perfectly complement one of their great tasting coffees. Can’t even think about riding after eating? You can still stop by and restore those sugar levels with one of their delicious and nutritious juices.

The home stretch
After a big day of riding, your legs are probably close to cramping, so head back along the Tuggerah Lake Cycleway until you once again reach the Tuggerah Train Station. Remembering to stop and rest if you feel like you or your fellow riders need a break.
