If you’re heading out from the Tweed Coast for a day in the hinterland, we have all aspects of your trip covered. First stop—brunch

So you’ve made it all the way to sleepy Tumbulgum and now you need a bit of a rest. We know the perfect place: Tumby Seafood Shack! Offering seafood that is sourced locally and nationally around Australia and New Zealand, this restaurant really is serious about seafood! That’s not all they have on offer, though. If fish isn’t your forte, you could always try one of their fresh burgers. These are cooked using unprocessed meat including beef burgers, real chicken breast burgers and much more. Looking for something a little lighter? Try one of their salads including Greek salad, roast pumpkin salad and chicken pasta salad. This sleepy riverside town will surely recharge the batteries.

Situated right on the bank of the Tweed River, the Riverview Hotel offers a delicious smorgasbord of menu items. If you’re feeling like pasta, the kids want pizza and your partner’s hankering for a steak, you’ll all be delighted and impressed with this local favourite. Dine inside or sit alfresco on the deck and enjoy the river views. This is the perfect place to re-energise after a big day of shopping and seeing the amazing sights.

If you’re looking for a great, quirky little café that offers amazing coffee and décor that’s just left of centre, you need to try Re Café Nate. Open from 7am until 4pm Monday to Friday, and from 7am ’til noon on weekends, this is a great option for an early brekky or late lunch! Just a short 5-minute drive from central Murwillumbah, this quaint café focuses strongly on two main elements: fantastic coffee, and eco-friendly everything. As soon as you walk into this adorable café, you’ll see wooden features reused from pallet crates and old wooden furniture that’s been saved and restored. Just about everything here has been recycled and reused—except for the coffee and food!
Sit down and enjoy the family friendly ambiance, where service is always with a smile. With a huge menu of mouth-watering cakes, muffins and more substantial meals, there’s something for everyone here.
