Plan ahead! Don’t wait until you’re inside Hunter Stadium before you realise you and the kids are hungry. For the price of a few hot dogs and a couple of cold drinks, you can enjoy a quality meal at these restaurants located just walking distance to the game.
The Mark Hotel
If you’re located west of Hunter Stadium, why not to stop into The Mark Hotel for a good pub-style feed and a couple of pre-game beverages. While $10 at Hunter stadium might get you a pie and half a bottle of coke, at the Mark Hotel restaurant you can order a range of burgers, or battered fish to go with your beer. After your stomach has been filled by the glorious restaurant feed, head to the sports bar and warm up those vocal cords by watching the U20s curtain raiser – or whatever sports are on the other screens – while getting to know some of the other Newcastle Knights fan brigade who use this venue as a part of their pre home game ritual. Locals reckon The Mark Hotel is the best bar in the ‘burbs, bar none.

Fortunate Son
Calling all rugby league fans who enjoy an afternoon of fine dining. This luxurious restaurant is not for the whole cheer squad to come to practice their chants before the clash, it’s for those who like to enjoy a bit of calm before the storm. This little gem has a range of tasty dishes including a spread of smoked, cured, grilled and braised meats to go with their extensive wine list that is heavily influenced by French and Australian labels with a focus on low intervention and natural winemaking techniques.
