The Lost Arc
After you’ve figured out how to operate the Segway and stopped panicking that you’re going to crash, it’s probably about time to feed the gremlins. The Lost Arc restaurant is hidden just off the Esplanade and serves up a huge variety of food. If you have picky eaters going through a vegetarian phase, or a growing son who could eat four burgers and not be full, then the Lost Arc can deliver the answer on a plate. Notable meals on the menu are their Crispy Pig burger with melted Camembert cheese, prosciutto, spinach and tomato relish, or their warm mushroom salad with tomato salsa, pine nuts and Parmesan cheese.

Alley Cats Patisserie
After burning a few more calories whipping around on the Segway, you’ll be dying for some caffeine and an afternoon snack. The Alley Cats Patisserie serves up freshly baked goods and Campos coffee. If you have a sweet tooth, check out their salted caramel and hazelnut praline cronuts (yes, a croissant crossed with a donut), otherwise their pies made in-house are absolutely divine. Grab your food and put your feet up for a rest in their garden restaurant.

For dinner
The Pearl Darwin
By now the novelty of riding around on a Segway has probably worn off, so why not wind up the family day with a luxurious dinner. Situated in the street mall, The Pearl Darwin restaurant has eclectic decor and comfy chairs to rest your tired legs. This is the perfect introduction to fine dining for your teenagers about to transition into adulthood with $2 freshly shucked oysters between 5pm and 7pm, Tuesday to Friday. Other specials include ricotta and truffle stuffed quail breast with salt n pepper legs, foie gras and fondant potatoes. If the family isn’t feeling that brave, they also serve up pulled pork sliders and oven baked Spanish mackerel for dinner – but just because they are more simple doesn’t mean they’re not absolutely divine.

For after dinner
Viva La Vida Wine & Tapas Bar
It’s time to drop the kids back off at the hotel and head out for some deserved time out. Sit the teens in front of a movie in your hotel room and head down to the Viva La Vida Wine & Tapas Bar. This bar has an extensive wine menu of national and international wines. Whether you want to splash out on a bottle of sparking Dom Perignon Vintage or would like to sink into a glass of Norfolk Rise merlot, Viva La Vida serves it up. If wine isn’t quite strong enough for you then check out their cocktail menu and grab a Tequila Mockingbird with Jose Cuervo Tradicional, agave syrup, watermelon, mint and lime. You can even grab a cheese board if the night is extending into the evening and you’re starting to feel peckish.
