Pottsville Bakehouse
Boasting the home of ‘Pottsville’s favourite pastries’, our first stop for your family day out is going to perk up even the crankiest of teens. Serving locals since 2000, one step through the doors of Pottsville Bakehouse and your stomach will start rumbling. Take your time browsing through the large selection of pastries that are baked daily with the freshest ingredients. Cakes, biscuits, muffins, tarts and more, you can even grab a fresh loaf of bread for the kids’ lunches next week. You’ll feel like a kid in a candy store, and your little ones won’t be able to pick just one. Go on; let these delicious treats tempt your stomach.

Pottsville Beach Markets
Our second stop for the day will take you and the kids out to the ever-popular Pottsville Beach Markets. Located in the Phillip Street Reserve, these markets are one of the best places on the Tweed Coast to pick up fresh farm produce, plants and a variety of homemade and hand crafted treats, crafts, clothing and jewellery. Open from 7:30am until 4:00pm on the 1st and 3rd Sunday of every month, if you managed to drag your children out of bed to catch the early bargains, I think they might deserve a little handmade treat from one of the local stallholders.

Cudgen Headland Surf Club
After walking around Pottsville Beach Markets, your feet are going to be begging for a rest. Head over to Cudgen Headland Surf Club to enjoy a seat with stunning oceanfront views. Grab a coffee and take your time working through the menu because you’ve got a lot to choose from. Fresh and fantastically cooked seafood, burgers, salads, steaks and more, your stomach will be thanking you as much as your feet. If your little nippers are feeling a little sluggish, the kids’ menu at Cudgen Headland Surf Club is sure to cheer them up. With chicken nuggets, fish, calamari and steak all served with chips, you’ll want to grab a sneaky plate of this affordable menu too (if only for the complimentary ice cream and soft drink!).

Kingscliff Beach
While you let your stomach settle, or enjoy another sneaky takeaway coffee, your kids can head straight to the beach or park playground. You won’t have to walk far at all before your feet find that nice warm sand. Forgot to pack the togs? The kids won’t care! With plenty of playground equipment, open space and seagulls to chase, a little bit of fresh air could work wonders on those tech-addicted minds.

If you get here before sunset, you’re in for a treat. Tweed River Seafoods is located on the banks of the Tweed Rivers and has plenty of seating at the shop and in the parklands across the road. Let the kids release any extra energy on the grass while you find out just why your feed was worth the wait.
