Before you head to the race, pop into one of these cafes for your caffeine fix and carb load so you last throughout the day.
Wharf One Cafe
This top-of-the-line cafe not only offers an incredible view on the pier in Cairns, but also serves up just as impressive food for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Pop in from 7am onwards and order something from their extensive breakfast menu. Choose from healthy, protein-packed options such as the quinoa and brown rice chai porridge with mixed berries. If you want to try something savoury, we recommend you try the plantain rosti served with cane cured salmon and ricotta – delicious! Grab this alongside a hot, barista-made coffee and you’ll be set for a day of action.

Fish Fry & Latte Cafe & Takeaway
Now you’re exhausted from your race (or spectating at least!) you’ll probably need a quick and easy feed. Fish Fry and Latte Cafe and Takeaway is a great little shop that has been looking after the locals for two decades. You can fill up on a healthy amount of sodium to stop those muscle cramps and treat yourself to some of the best tasting seafood and takeaway in the region. Choose from tasty fish and chips or fresh sandwiches if you want something light, or if you’re feeling ravenous they have a huge range of burgers. We recommend the double dare burger; a works burger —cheese, bacon, egg and pineapple— with an extra pattie and cheese. They even have an awesome kids menu so you can keep the young ones tide over until dinnertime. If you need a place to head on Sunday, check out Fish Fry & Latte Cafe and Takeaway!
