#1 Consider the positioning of your plants

It’s important that your houseplants get enough light for their type every day. To place them within 3 feet of a window or opening that gets heaps of light is recommended. You may need to take a step back and assess everything in the room, as a little rearranging may be needed in order to make your furnishings harmonise with your plants.

#2 Don’t overwater your plants

Although we live in a super sunny climate for most of the year, we need to be aware of the amount of water we give our houseplants. In the cooler months, when the light is less powerful, be sure to give your plants less water. Another cool water hack; Add a few drops of ammonia per litre of water you use on your plants—it will improve their foliage colour and increase growth!

#3 Control pests

The last thing you want is to allow bugs and mites to make a home in your precious plants. To keep the pests at bay, push a clove of garlic into the soil; if it begins to sprout, just cut it back. Bugs such as spider mites thrive in warm, dry houses. To combat them, frequently mist under the leaves of your plants.

#4 Get creative with it!

You don’t have to restrict houseplants to pots and vases. Why not create an interior garden or add an oriental touch with a bonsai or zen space? This option is great if you’re out of the house often as these features are very low maintenance. Using hanging pots to plant creeper vines can also be a unique way to create an all-natural room divider!
