If you’re heading to the 2015 Darwin Lions’ Beer Can Regatta, you’re going to need to fill up beforehand! We’ve found a great cafe to take the family for breakfast, before the fun starts at 10am!
Crepe Escape
Open from 9am on Sundays, pop into the Crepe Escape for a delicious filling breakfast for the whole family. Choose from savoury, vegetarian, seafood or sweet crepes, or pick something off their delicious breakfast menu. If you have a sweet tooth, we recommend you try the mixed berry cheesecake crepe, served with berries, cinnamon, white chocolate, biscuits and Philadelphia cheese.
If you prefer a traditional breakfast, order the ‘Wake Up Call’ with bacon, eggs, cheese, tomato and a hashbrown to fill your belly. Before you head off to the event, don’t forget to order a large coffee and you’ll be set for the day.

Darwin Lions’ Beer Can Regatta
Now you’ve had your fill, it’s time to head to the Beer Can Regatta. With activities starting at 10am and the day wrapping up at 5pm, you don’t have to get into the water to enjoy this day out. Games and competitions include tug-of-war, the best novelty hat (made from cans, of course!), a kids sand castle competition and beach races. There is a small donation to take part in any of the adult events, but the kids events are free under 12’s, so it’s a great day out for the whole family!
If you plan on taking part in any of the water competitions, make sure you register by 9am on the Sunday morning so you don’t miss out on the big race. All money raised this year goes towards HPA Disability Services, so you’ll be having a ball for a great cause.

Squid Ink Fish and Chippery
You’ve spent all day by the beach, so surely you’re hankering for some amazing seafood. At the Squid Ink Fish and Chippery you’ll get a great seafood meal that you can take home, so you can put the kids to bed early! Stop in and order a huge range of fresh food, from your traditional fish and chips, to juicy burgers and other seafood. Grab yourself a family combo with 4 fish fillets, 4 prawns, 4 scallops, 4 pieces of calamari and 4 potato cakes, served up with crispy chips and tartare sauce – this is sure to keep everyone happy this Sunday night!

If a day of racing beer can boats and running around on the beach has got you thirsty, check out the Deck Bar for some post drinks and dinner in a great environment. Leave the kids at home or head here with your mates for an awesome Sunday session. Sit in their alfresco dining area and pick from heaps of meals off their dinner menu, including juicy burgers, chargrilled steaks or gourmet pizzas. Top it off with a fresh pint of beer and you’ve got yourself a great Sunday night to carry on the festivities!
