Hill 60
Start your morning with a sunrise from the famous HIll 60 lookout in Port Kembla. If you manage to will yourself out of bed, you’ll be rewarded with coastal views as far as the eye can see, in both directions. With the sun rising at approximately 6:30am to 7am in Wollongong, get your comfy clothes on and your camera ready.

After waking up early for the sunrise, you’re going to need a caffeine-style pick-me-up before continuing your journey. On your way to the Mt Kembla lookout, stop in at Enigma Coffee Emporium for a great tasting breakfast. Mt Kembla Lookout
Now that you’ve livened up a little and the temperature has risen a few degrees, get in your car and head to Mt Kembla lookout. As you drive towards the summit, be sure to take in the subtropical surroundings and keep an eye out for the local flora and fauna. Once you reach the lookout you can enjoy amazing scenery of Lake Illawarra and the coastal plain. If you’re a hiker you can take a 30-minute walk up the track for more stunning looks of the area.

Sublime Lookout
Perhaps the best lookout of them all, stop off at the Sublime Point Lookout in Bulli Tops and be treated to 180-degree views of the entire Wollongong region. Located just off the motorway, park your car and make the short yet steep climb up the walking track. Here you will be rewarded with breathtaking sights of the entire Illawarra escarpment all the way to the ocean. With toilets, barbeques and sheltered areas, you can have a picturesque picnic here, or head to the restaurant nearby.

The Cliffhanger
After all that hiking you’re going to need somewhere to enjoy a delicious lunch. The Cliffhanger is a beautiful little restaurant cafe and is home to Wollongong views so stunning it could almost double as a lookout itself. Order a cold beer or wine and take a glance at their simple yet well executed menu. If you’ve got quite the appetite, we suggest digging into the Cliffhanger Burger with your choice of schnitzel or grilled ham off the bone with mixed lettuce, pineapple, avocado, capsicum, Swiss cheese and mustard mayonnaise, all served on a warm Turkish roll with hash browns on the side. With great food, service and incredible views, there’s no better way to end your day of sightseeing than with a lunch at The Cliffhanger.
