Fingal Bay Beach, One Mile Beach, Stockton Beach & Birubi Beach are all patrolled by lifeguards, so they’re the perfect option for families looking to spend the day surfing, swimming, fishing, kayaking or just sitting down for a peaceful picnic. Both Fingal Bay Beach and One Mile Beach have BBQ, shower and toilet facilities and offer good-sized waves great for beginner surfers. The beautiful Stockton Beach stretches as far as the eye can see. It’s known for its stunning rockpools and is a great place to do some 4-wheel driving (if you have a beach permit).

With so many picturesque natural surroundings and attractions, you can really explore until your heart’s content. If you’re thinking about getting your bike shorts out, there’s a range of rugged mountain bike tracks and family-friendly cycle paths to choose from along the coastline.
For the morning walkers and avid hikers, the 1-hour climb to the top of Tomaree Head walking track gives you unspoilt views of the entire Port Stephens area. If you’re not up for a vertical climb, then we suggest taking a walk down one of the many beautiful beaches mentioned above.

Do The Sand Dunes


The Stockton Bright Sand Dunes is one Australia’s largest sand dune systems and is a big drawcard for adventure-seeking tourists visiting Port Stephens. Spend your day 4-wheel driving, quad biking, sandboarding, horse riding or even camel riding through dunes as high as 40 metres. The Stockton Bright Sand Dunes is fun for the whole family and a must if your visiting Port Stephens!
