7 Date Night Ideas for Valentine’s Day on the Gold Coast 2020

1. Explore the night markets on the Gold Coast.

Before you write off checking out one of the Gold Coast’s many night markets due to the rain, remember a few of them have undercover areas. Miami Marketta is one venue with plenty of undercover seating, entertainment, stalls and food options, but it’s also worth checking out the Facebook pages of others to see if they’ll be open.

If the weather does happen to clear up, the new Carrara Night Markets is also worth checking out. There is always live music and an abundance of picnic tables, as well as a bar with basics.

2. Head indoors to the Gold Class movies.

Almost all cinemas on the Gold Coast have a Gold Class option. For those who have never been, Gold Class tickets will normally get you comfier seats (normally a recliner), a much smaller audience and to-your-seat food and drink service.

As it is Valentine’s Day, you will have to be booking your tickets as early as possible to ensure you don’t miss out. Especially if the cinema is running any Valentine’s Day offers on the Gold Coast.

Missing out on tickets is a possibility, so if you do, get your loved one a Gold Coast gift card and plan a date for in the future. Then you get both a Valentine’s Day gift and a date night too.

3. Escape the city with a Gold Coast Hinterland night away.

Springbrook and Tamborine Mountain are packed to the brim with romantic accommodation options. To make your Valentine’s Day on the Gold Coast last more than one night, book a night away with your sweetheart, making use of one of the many packages.

Prices for accommodation over the Valentine’s Day weekend do tend to be a little steeper than your average day, but you’ll get a bottle of champagne and some chocolates thrown in too.

For the ultimate surprise, pack a bag for your significant other (if you can) and hide it in the car. Act like nothing is going on other than a date, and then surprise them when you pull up to your bungalow, hotel, bed and breakfast or wherever you’re staying.

However, you are running out of time to book, so get on it if you want a cheeky weekend away! You may even decide to simply book a romantic weekend for the future, if you can’t get away on short notice.

4. Check out one of the Gold Coast’s high-end buffets.

Buffets tend to get a bad wrap, but not the high-end venues on the Gold Coast! Most of the newer wave of buffers are in hotels or the casino, and offer an experience, not just a dining option.

Some of our favourite high-end buffets for a Valentine’s Day dinner on the Gold Coast are:

Most of these venues will also have a bar onsite too, so before or after your dinner, you can kick up your heels for a night on the town.

5. Picnic at Burleigh Hill.

Providing the weather clears up, a picnic at Burleigh Hill is going to a popular spot for Valentine’s Day on the Gold Coast. While you may be deterred by having others around you, the vibe may actually be exactly what you’re after, what with all the love in the air.

All you need to do is take a couple of blankets and cushions, maybe an LED candle or two, some of you and your partner’s favourite picnic foods and snacks, some drinks and you’re good to go! Then, once you’re all set up, sit back and watch the sunset over the water.

If you’re going to be driving to Burleigh, we do recommend getting in early if you want a park.

6. Try out one of the many attractions on the Gold Coast.

It’s the Gold Coast! As one of the tourist capitals of Australia, there is always something to do and see.

Surfers Paradise is the obvious place to head for adrenaline-pumping rides and other activities, but there are places scattered from north to south to check out. Thanks to the growing family population on the Gold Coast, you’ll now find arcades, putt putt courses and other fun venues all over the place.

7. Book a dinner for two at your favourite Gold Coast restaurant.

Would it be Valentine’s Day without a romantic dinner? However, everyone is going to have the same idea, so if you haven’t booked a table yet, do it now!
