We’ve organised the perfect day of activities for you and the children, along with a couple of delicious food stops along the way.

Start with a coffee

Raw Sugar Cafe

Now this first stop is as much for you, as it is for them. If you’re going spend the whole day looking after your kids, you’re going to have to raise your alertness levels with a perfectly poured coffee from the team at the Raw Sugar Cafe. You can choose from the versatile breakfast menu, but if you’re feeding the kids, give them an early treat with the banana pancakes topped with maple syrup and served with a side of ice cream.
Where: 214 Victoria St Taree NSW

Enjoy a picnic surrounded by nature

Apex Lookout
Located up high on the Manning River bend, this local’s secret is a great place to spend the day outside with the kids. Be sure to bring a kite or some sporting equipment so the kids can have some fun, while you’re treated to views of surrounding green hills and the always gorgeous Manning River. Didn’t bother getting breakfast at Raw Sugar Cafe? Onsite barbecue facilities and relaxing vibes make this the perfect place for a picnic.

What kid doesn’t love their fish and chips? After your child has spent the day being so well behaved, you can spoil them with some delicious seafood. Deep Sea Delights has been serving the freshest and best tasting seafood in Taree since the 1950s, so you know the family is in for a treat! From juicy burgers and chips to battered flake and scallops, there’s sure to be something for even the fussiest kids at Deep Sea Delights. You can make the most of their diner and eat in, but we suggest grabbing some Deep Sea Delight dishes to-go and heading for your next destination.
Where: 3 Pulteney St Taree NSW

Play in the park

Queen Elizabeth Park
Located just footsteps from Deep Sea Delight is one of Taree’s most popular parks. Once you reach Queen Elizabeth Park, find a nice little spot near the Manning River, sit down and start digging into your seafood. Once the meal is out of the way, the kids can make the most of the nearby playground or spend the rest of the day feeding ducks by the water’s edge. After such an exciting day, they might even want to have a lie down on the picnic blanket and relax in the arms of their beloved parents.

Weather not agreeing with your plans?

If the weather has come to rain on your parade, then you may want to consider a plan B. For a day of light-hearted competition with your little one, head to Taree Ten Pin Bowl. Otherwise, if your children have a bit more energy to burn, consider heading to the indoor Manning Aquatic and Leisure Centre.
