Milk & Sugar Foot Spa

Milk Mud Soak
Think about it. You spend a lot of your day on your feet—how much TLC do you give them? Whether your feet have become hardened and calloused over time, or they need sooting after an exceptionally tiring day, try this remedy.

You’ll need

  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 cups milk
  • 7 cups water
  • 2 tablespoons of moisturising lotion, plus a little extra for after treatment

Step 1

Place a bowl (large enough to put both feet into) in front of a comfy armchair and place a towel underneath to soak any spillage. Be sure to have a good book or something to keep you occupied while you relax.

Step 2

Heat a large saucepan and add 2 cups of milk and 7 cups of water until it is as hot as you can stand. While the milk and water is heating, mix together 1/2 a cup of sugar with 2 tablespoons of moisturiser until the sugar is coated and the mixture is slightly soupy.

Step 3

When the milk/water mix is heated through, pour it into the bowl by your armchair. Place the sugar/moisturiser mix nearby, take a seat in your chair and place your feet into the bowl containing the milk and water. Soak for approximately 10 minutes.

Step 4

After soaking, remove your feet from the bowl and, using your fingers, scrub your feet with the sugar mixture. Be sure to scrub them well, on the bottoms and tops of your feet, as well as between the toes. Once you’ve given your feet a good scrub, return them to the milk/water bowl to rinse off excess sugar.

Step 5

Once your feet have been rinsed, dry them with a towel. Use some extra moisturiser to run into your feet, and put socks on for an hour or so. Now, your feet should be super smooth, soft and feeling refreshed!

Some words of advice

Don’t heat the milk/water mixture too hot. Keep an eye on its temperature to ensure it’s heated to a comfortable temperature for your feet.
While scrubbing your feet with the sugar mixture, stop if your feet start to tingle too much.
Add some drops of your favourite essential oil, or some flower petals to the bowl of milk and water to make your feet smell nice!
