Sewing is the new black. If you want to sew your own patchwork quilt, table runner or placemat or are keen to try your hand at making that pencil skirt or chunky knit scarf, head down to the Sewing Basket in Buderim. You can pick up your fabric and patterns here, and even check out their range of brand new sewing machines if you’re a first timer. The owner Kathy also organises classes in store with local experts, so if you need a bit of guidance on your next Pinterest project make sure to check out the events calendar and stop stressing about topstitching.

If you’re feeling a bit peckish after your sewing class, or you’re still trying to figure out what you want to make, take a seat at the Hungry Feel Eating House. This is a café that prides itself on their own food craft, sourcing most of their ingredients locally and within season. They serve up hearty breakfasts and seasonal menus for lunch and dinner that include a range of salads, snacks and wholesome meals to indulge in. We would recommend the sweetcorn fritters with bacon, avocado, rocket and tomato relish alongside a freshly squeezed juice or coffee. If you find that a glass of wine lets your imagination run wild, grab a pizza and vino while you scroll threw some DIY blogs to choose your next sewing project. You won’t be disappointed if you visit the Hungry Feel Eating House; even if your new dress is bust and doesn’t fit quite right, a fig, orange and walnut muffin straight out of the oven is sure to lift your spirits.
