Even if you’re not a fan of bold eyebrows, you have to admit you’ve been envious of at least one of these stunning womens’ brows. Their thickness and fullness is something most of us can only dream of.

But then brow tinting and microblading came to town. We were all queuing up to get permanent or semi-permanent dye injected into or applied to the delicate skin above our eyes. But, it’s all a bit…blocky.

What is brow lamination?

If you love your brow gel, you’re going to love lamination. This beauty treatment involves a solution being used to brush up your brow hairs, and keeping them lifted for 6 to 8 weeks.

Refinery29 reports brow lamination started in Russia, before spreading to the UK in early 2019. As someone with dark and bushy eyebrows, I frequent almost every brow bar’s social media profile, but didn’t see it hit Australia until around mid this year.

Note: If you want me to try out brow lamination and share the process and results first hand, email me at sarah.russo@localsearch.com.au.

The eyebrow lamination process:

  1. The brow technician will begin my assessing the right shape and tint colour for your brows.
  2. They will then apply a lifting solution to your brow hairs to straighten out the hairs and make them more flexible.
  3. Once the solution has sat long enough, the tint will be applied and left to work its magic.
  4. After this, the technician will brush the hairs into place.
  5. To finish, an oil or hydrating treatment will be applied to the area and brows.

What to Expect from Brow Lamination

As your eyebrow hairs will be flat and brushed upwards, they will look fuller and bolder. If you have curlier or sparse eyebrows, this may come as a shock, especially once tinted.

The treatment itself takes around 45 to 60 minutes, so perfect to sneak in on your lunch break.

How do you look after eyebrows after lamination?

Brow lamination will dry out the hair, so ensure you use the recommended hydrating solution daily. It’s also recommended you brush your eyebrow hairs upwards daily to keep them looking their best for longer.

Can anyone get brow lamination?

Unfortunately, if you do have sensitive skin, the solution used may irritate your skin. And as this brow treatment does enhance what you already have, you will need some brow hairs to get this brow lifting look done.

Where does brow laminating?

Unfortunately, brow laminating is not widely popular just yet, but it’s worth calling around your local brow and lash bars or beauty salons to find out if it’s available.

It’s worth mentioning, like any beauty treatment, ensure the boutique, bar or salon you go to is fully trained and experienced to do what they offer. Working around the eyes, especially with chemicals, is extremely dangerous, so you don’t want to risk it. Before booking in, check out their online reviews and social media profiles for examples of their work.
